I am a fairly simple guy. I grew up in a small town with a group of the best guys and gals around. Always loved art from the first time I picked up any instrument that would make a mark. Did pretty good in school. Well, high school, that is. College was a different story. I rocked two years of art school. Then attended our local state school. That was a different chapter all to itself. Those same great guys led to some great parties. Ha!
Entered the real world as a graphic artist after a few years. Been there ever since in various roles and names – animator, graphic designer, art director, creative director, visual designer. Worked at places that were just getting off the ground to established advertising powerhouses. And even worked for myself – like right now – and digging it. Looking for a designer? You can see some of my work here – nickcobler.com.
I started fishing a long time ago too thanks to my Dad. My best guess is that I picked up a fly rod 36 years or so ago. Not sure. But, I do know that I loved it. That’s all that really matters. I’m a casting instructor for LL Bean’s Outdoor Discovery Schools. I teach fly tying there sometimes too. Like I said, fairly simple guy.
As I’ve journeyed through my career, I’ve been to a few favorite spots in search of trout. Montana tops the list for sure. Pennsylvania will always be there too. Colorado rounds out my top three destinations…so far.
Okay, I’m even boring myself now. ~Drifter07
